KEVIN ADAMS

(Tulsa) represented a fellow who listened to the GnR song "Used to Love Her" and took it literally---a little too literally.  The State alleged:  client and his former-fiancee got into fisticuffs, she hit him with a bottle, knocked him down and got an iron grip on his balls; he strangled her to death, panicked, staged a break-in and tried to make it look like a rape, ran from the cops, resisted arrest, and then lied about it all when he got caught.  The prosecution got the crazy idea to charge him with Murder I and had the temerity to offer only LIFE(!)  Enter Kevin.  A little razzle, a little dazzle, a little client testimony and voila!  You get 25 on a Murder II with plenty of credit for time served and some daylight at the end of the tunnel.  Client had no priors and testified to support the defense of self-defense which the jury did not buy totally, but enough to avoid the Big One.  Super job, Kevin!

01.06 (Tulsa) was hired after jury trial that resulted in a conviction and, at sentencing, convinced the judge that the statute of limitations had been violated in a lewd acts case and got the thing dismissed(!)  You would think if ever there was a happy client it was that guy!  Super job, Kevin.
